Sleeping 18" Reborn/Newborn BabyBoy, Now on Etsy

I have just completed "reborning" this sweet little 18" baby boy . He has many realistic features and is weighted to feel like a real baby. He was sold the same day he was listed.

His limbs have a complete range of movement and he can be posed.

He has vinyl head and limbs and Bountiful Baby's new, realistic cloth body, which has a narrower waist and chest and a cute little tush that looks adorable in clothes. His cuddly body also contains a beating heart. The body is weighted in a manner that lets him move a little loose in the upper torso so he bends when you pick him up, as real babies do.

His hair is hand micro-rooted (one hair at a time) fine mohair and is thin, as with many real babies.
He comes with diapers and an undershirt, the red onsie shown, socks, a different sleeper than the one shown (I found a small stain on that one), a paci and the toy shown, and is wrapped in a swaddle blanket.

I welcome all your questions and comments.

All my dolls are guaranteed and I offer a hassle free return policy if the doll is returned within seven days of receipt, in the same condition it was sent. I also guarantee my workmanship for 1 year with free shipping and repair of any problem caused by my workmanship.

How It All Began

If someone had told me in 2013 that I would have a doll business/hobby within one year, I would have assured them they were mistaken. I was only interested in making a few art dolls for fun.

I have been interested in art dolls for some time and had started researching ways to make them, but I am an artist with a degree in graphic design and a focus on drawing and painting.

The little Titian-haired beauty pictured here is the person who launched a new hobby for me at the end of 2013; a hobby that turned into a business within a few months.

When our kids posted a picture of our granddaughter holding a poster-sized letter to Santa asking for an iPad, her two front teeth and an American Girl doll, I remembered seeing some nice used AG dolls among my research.

I bought 3 AG dolls in fairly good condition, cleaned and restored them, made outfits for them and had my granddaughter choose which she wanted. I sold the other two, bought a few more and was hooked.

I also discovered the gorgeous My Twinn 23” posable dolls and made a custom doll to look like my granddaughter.

I purchased other contemporary dolls to restore and see how they were made. I have gained a wealth of knowledge this past year and am looking forward to making my own dolls.

I will continue to restore or customize contemporary dolls on commission, but once my current inventory is sold, I will no longer purchase dolls to restore, but will be making my own designs.

In the meantime, I am also dabbling in "reborn" babies (dolls) and custom painting small dolls to look like actual people I know. It's all fun and a great journey.

I invite you to follow along by email or to just drop in from time to time.

If you collect, make, or are just interested in dolls, I would love to hear from you.

About Imago

Hello,

I'm delighted you have taken a moment to visit my new website, featuring the transformation of contemporary dolls.
The name I have chosen seems especially fitting for my website, since imago is the final transformative stage for a butterfly.

The dolls that appear here have been transformed from over-loved or abused dolls, or begun from assorted pieces to become beautiful dolls in excellent to very good condition. They are once again ready to be played with and loved or collected.

I will have a section showing the process of transformation and how the dolls are cleaned and repaired.

In the next few months I will be adding dolls I will be offering on eBay and Etsy. I hope to also add some links to other doll artists whose work I admire.

I hope you will check in from time to time and, if the subject interests you, become a follower.

I would also love to have your comments, questions, and contributions.
